Joining the Carolina Resource Center for Eating Disorders: A New Chapter in Healing & Advocacy for Haley Schiek

As an eating disorder recovery coach and advocate for holistic wellness, joining the Carolina Resource Center for Eating Disorders (CRC for ED) is a significant milestone in my journey. The CRC for ED is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing resources, support, and advocacy for those affected by eating disorders. It’s an honor to be part of a community that shares my passion for promoting healing and recovery.
About the Carolina Resource Center for Eating Disorders
The Carolina Resource Center for Eating Disorders is the only nonprofit in North Carolina dedicated exclusively to supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders. The organization offers a wealth of resources, including educational materials, support groups, and connections to treatment providers. CRC for ED is committed to raising awareness about eating disorders, advocating for access to quality care, and providing a supportive community for recovery.
Why I Joined CRC for ED
Cosana means “healing together. It is a latin word that I made up to communicate my #1 belief about healing: the deepest healing happens in community. Becoming a member of CRC for ED aligns perfectly with my mission at Cosana Coaching to serve as a partner in healing and support. The organization’s values of empathy, education, and empowerment resonate deeply with my approach to eating disorder recovery coaching. Being part of this community allows me to contribute to a larger movement dedicated to breaking the stigma around eating disorders and fostering an environment of compassion and understanding, at both the professional and community level.

The Impact of Carolina Resource Centers for Eating Disorders
The work done by CRC for ED is invaluable in creating a supportive network for those affected by eating disorders. The organization’s comprehensive approach includes providing critical resources, such as educational materials and support groups, which are essential for both individuals in recovery and their families. This support helps demystify eating disorders, offering clarity and understanding to those who might otherwise feel isolated or misunderstood.
CRC for ED’s dedication to education extends beyond just providing information; they actively engage in community outreach, hosting workshops and events to raise awareness about eating disorders. These initiatives not only educate the public but also help to reduce stigma, encouraging more open conversations about mental health and body image issues.
One of the most impactful services CRC for ED offers is their directory of professionals, which includes specialists like myself. This directory connects individuals to specialized care, ensuring they receive support tailored to their specific needs. Whether someone is seeking recovery coaching, nutritional counseling, or therapeutic support, CRC for ED facilitates access to a network of qualified professionals dedicated to eating disorder recovery.
Moreover, CRC for ED advocates for policy changes to improve access to care and resources for individuals affected by eating disorders. Their advocacy work includes collaborating with healthcare providers, educators, and policymakers to promote better understanding and treatment of eating disorders. This advocacy not only benefits individuals in North Carolina but also contributes to a broader national conversation on the importance of comprehensive eating disorder care.
By providing these resources and services, CRC for ED plays a crucial role in the recovery journey of many individuals, offering hope and support at every step.
Looking Forward
As a new member of CRC for ED, I am excited to collaborate with other professionals and contribute to the organization’s mission of developing resources to assist and advocate for those impacted by eating disorders. Together, we can support individuals in cultivating a healthy relationship with food, movement, and body image; eliminate stigma; and foster acceptance and healing.
